Hello and welcome to a new year at Children’s House!! I am Korey Dudley, the Director and Administrator. While studying Child Development at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, my life changed forever when a guest lecturer from England, a woman by the name of Margaret Homfray, was giving courses in Montessori Education. She had lived with Dr. Montessori after WWII and spent 50 years as the founder and directress of a large Montessori Teacher Training Institute in London. Fortunately for me, she was retired and visiting Cal Poly when I was there in 1979. It only took one class for me to know that the teachings of Dr. Montessori would be my guide to working with children and I dreamt of opening a Montessori school of my own. That opportunity presented itself to me a year later and now it has been 43 years since I started that school in an old house with 12 students.

I am so very proud of the school that Children’s House has become and it is thanks to my incredible staff, all of you supportive parents and, of course, our amazing students. There is nothing that gives me greater joy than to get to know these little children and watch them enjoy learning so much. They grow up so quickly. My own three daughters are no exception. My oldest is a nurse in SLC, my middle daughter is a talented photographer and my youngest is a graphic designer. I attribute their passion and creativity to their Montessori education.

I hope you will find some time to tour each classroom and see the wonderful things that the students will be working on again this year.  Don’t forget to visit the library where you are welcome to check out books, MOCHA, our “coffeeshop” and our Stephen B. Dudley Community Barn where we will hold music and art classes, performances and parties!
